NOTE: Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) does not have a program to test for Zebra or Quagga Mussels in lakes or rivers. Lake Winnibigoshish was likely ZM infested during the summer of 2012 but not designated infested until January 2013. Consequently, to solely rely on the list of DNR Deginated Infested Waters will not be sufficient in halting the further spread of mussels or other AIS. When transporting watercraft from lake to lake, precautions must be taken just as if they were designated as infested. Precaution Guidelines.
This list has not been updated to include Quagga Mussels or Rusty Crayfish which are also considered AIS threats.
Starting in 1986 this map shows the Westward migration of Zebra and Quagga Mussels across the United States.
