The AIS Advisory Committee was established by DNR Commissioner Tom Landwehr in December 2012 to assist the DNR in maintaining strong relationships with AIS stakeholders and to advise the Agency on matters related to aquatic invasive species.
Advice and recommendations from the 15-member committee, and four ex-officio members, will be used to help guide the department’s activities. Committee members will bring a range of personal and professional experience to the discussion about how to prevent the spread of invasive plants and animals in our lakes, rivers and wetlands.
The original committee of 15 served for 3 years and Commissioner Landwehr reappointed 10 members to staggering terms (1, 2, and 3 years) and appointed 5 new members to the Statewide AIS Advisory Committee in January 2016. President of Lake Detroiters, Barb Halbakken Fischburg was reappointed to a 3-year term.
